Pasadena Trauma Therapist

Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

Previously I worked as a chemical engineer, but I wasn’t satisfied. I couldn’t see the direct impact of my work and I craved the intimacy of working directly with people. Becoming a therapist has changed all of that, as I truly enjoy helping those with trauma, anxiety, depression, and personality disorders. I have training in EMDR, Brainspotting, and use a client-centered approach, following your lead on goals and what you’d like to explore. I believe in a human’s innate potential to heal.

I’m originally from Iran and am bilingual in English and Farsi (Persian). I provide services in either language. My diverse cultural, professional and educational background enables me to relate to others’ varied experiences. I have found that therapy has helped me to not only improve my quality of life, but also helped me to grow and progress in my self-actualization journey continuously. Empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity are the pillars of my approach. Being a therapist is my calling. I can’t wait to work with you.

All modalities are very effective in treating traumas.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy that has been successful in helping people who suffer from trauma, anxiety, panic, disturbing memories, nightmares, etc. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements or tapping) while the client attends to memories and triggers to decrease or eliminate emotional distress connected to the memory.

Brainspotting is a somatic therapy that helps clients access the subcortical (non-verbal) part of the brain, where trauma is typically stored. According to the creator of Brainspotting, David Grand, “Where you look affects how you feel.” Since our eyes give us access to the subcortical brain, Brainspotting uses the visual field as a way to help release stored memories.

Parts work makes space for the conflicts between parts of the self. For instance, there are times when you might be attempting to work through a challenging or traumatic memory within therapy.
